SOHO FASHION Group’s “WindBreaker” Cycling Jacket Wins Silver at the New York Design Awards

SOHO FASHION Group’s WindBreaker cycling jacket has received the Silver Prize in Product Design at the New York Design Awards.
For our team, this award is not just a design highlight—it reflects a development approach we apply across technical apparel: build practical solutions for real performance scenarios, then make them scalable for production.

Built for Winter Cycling: Thermal Control + Active Protection

WindBreaker is engineered around two priorities: dynamic temperature regulation and visibility-led protection for cold-weather riding.

Material & insulation strategy

  • A functional outer construction developed with fluorine-free (PFC-free) waterproofing in mind.

  • A warmth-to-weight insulation approach using 3M Thinsulate™, combined with Merino wool elements for comfort management (details available in the tech pack).

Ventilation for high-output riding

A proprietary honeycomb back structure works with underarm ventilation to support moisture release during active cycling—especially when speed and airflow increase.

Visibility & riding-specific protection details

  • High-visibility color blocking designed for clearer recognition in low-light conditions.

  • Reinforced zones and integrated thumb loops to improve stability and coverage during movement.

Details that match real riding habits

WindBreaker adds functional touches that riders actually use:

  • Rear stretch storage sized for essentials like a phone and bottle, with access designed for riding posture.
  • Extended curved hem for better coverage when bending forward, plus 3D patterning for range of motion.
  • Matte-finish surfaces to reduce glare while keeping the overall look clean and technical.

Why this matters for OEM/ODM partners

For cycling, outdoor, and technical apparel brands, WindBreaker demonstrates SOHO FASHION Group’s ability to deliver:

  • Integrated technical solutions (materials + pattern engineering + functional detailing)
  • Sustainable-ready options, including fluorine-free waterproofing and OEKO-TEX® aligned material choices (where applicable)
  • Production-focused development, supporting customization, testing alignment, and scalable execution
